Semanda Charles is a 21-year-old Ugandan fashion designer behind say-manda Clothing, a Creative clothing brand Located in Kawempe along Jakana road.
The youth has a remarkable passion for fashion, as he grew up in a community with so many fashion designers; a factor he says inspired him to start up his own brand.
In a brief interaction with the youngster, he advises the youth who want to pursue whichever endeavor to “love what you do and do not wait to grow to start, start you will grow.”
At Say-manda, Charles has a team of fashion designers and tailors whom he has groomed under his own mentorship. The clothing line also offers internships to vocational and institutional fashion students and for community giveback, Say-Manda offers free tailoring lessons to the youths who are interested in but can’t afford to pay for a career in fashion.
“We do contract partnerships and we have our very trusted customers who believe in the work produced at say-manda. We have also introduced many youths to the art of fashion and we easily network and connect with whoever we want to.” Charles reveals.
Say-manda is a SEED show award-winning clothing brand and has showcased at Kampala fashion week and other multiple fashion shows in Uganda. They have also managed to acquire enough space for the production process.
Through the partnership with beauspure, some of Say-Manda’s trends are selling in the UK and some work has appeared in Africa fashion week London.
