VOICES: IF WE DON’T TELL, HOW WILL THEY KNOW?

If we don’t tell, how will they know?

Hi! Did you know that on the 23rd of October 2019, the Dance Adventure Studios in partnership with other parties… had a production titled Voices at the Uganda National Cultural Centre / National Theatre Kampala? I bet you didn’t. Okay, it was also my first production as a scriptwriter, and I am looking forward to many more.

So, voices is an annual, on-going (open theatre, communal, in-door stage) theatre production where creative and performing artists are coming together to advocate against gender-based violence. This is done through music, dance, drama, poetry, story-telling, among others.

There is a generic attitude that gender-based violence is only a (don’t abuse women) movement, which is not right as people often forget that all sexes can be and have been a victim of violence, and a lot of it is on-going.

Well then we had to show happen, and we intend to have post-production next year, and as well, a major Voices production per year. 2019 was Volume 1.

Here’s a few pictures from the production and please don’t hesitate to leave a comment, or to get in touch if you are interested in being involved at all.
